OPEN CALL to participate in theater laboratory FIRST BODY

An international theater development laboratory called "First Body" will be held from July 14 to 28. The laboratory aims to deepen knowledge about physical/ritual theater and share experiences by combining theatrical practices of various cultures, including elements and modifications from Antonin Artaud's "Mechanical devices to create visible and auditory frenzy," Bruno Caverna's "Play-Fight Practice," Luiz Cantador's "Capoeira," Natalia Pieczuro's "Rootless without roots," Jerzy Grotowski's Technique, Diego Borges' "First Body," etc. The creative team of the laboratory will spend two weeks analyzing and interpreting the book "On War" by Carl von Clausewitz, using the aforementioned methods to study the human body as a combat instrument and the human mind as an instrument of war. The laboratory process has led to discoveries about how the experiment will be presented in two major Lithuanian cities: Vilnius on July 26 and Klaipeda on July 27.  CLICK AND SUBSCRIBE

First Body Encounter

First Body Encounter is a project that brings together artists from different countries: France, United States, Russia, Colombia, Lithuania, Switzerland and Brazil. Artists from different work fronts, dance, theater, singing, circus, performance will meet for seven days to share creative experiences. The idea of this project is to promote a space for sharing different creation methodologies, where important artists from different cultures can share their vision of creation processes through workshops, presentations, lectures and conversations. The purpose of Encounter is to create an international network of research artists and provide cultural exchange between the countries involved, thus promoting art as a vehicle for interrelationships and training.

This project will take place once every year in a different country. The 1st Encounter took place in Brasília from the 15th to the 21st of January in a space in the middle of nature, thanks to the partnership with Unipaz-DF where we held the event. This is an independent initiative conceived through the First Body Programme, a Brazilian creative program that develops creative workshops around the world, in addition to promoting international meetings with artists from different areas. This will be the first edition of Encounter which has its next edition confirmed for 2023 in Lithuania.

O First Body Encounter é um projeto que reune artistas de diferentes países: França, Estados Unidos, Russia, Colombia, Lituânia, Suíça e Brasil. Os artistas de diferentes frentes de trabalho, dança, teatro, canto, circo, performance se reunirão durante sete dias para compartilharem experiências de criação. A ideia deste projeto é promover um espaço de partilha de diferentes metodologias de criação, onde importantes artistas de diferentes culturas possam compartilhar sua visão sobre processos de criação através de oficinas, apresentações, palestras e conversas. O intuito do Encounter é criar uma rede internacional de artistas pesquisadores e proporcionar o intercâmbio cultural entre os países envolvidos fomentando assim a arte como veículo de inter-relações e formação.

Este projeto acontecerá uma vez a cada ano em um país diferente. O 1° Encounter aconteceu em Brasília de 15 a dia 21 de janeiro em um espaço no meio da natureza, graças a parceria com Unipaz-DF onde realizamos o evento. Esta é uma iniciativa independente idealizada através do First Body Programme, um programa de criação brasileiro que desenvolve workshops de criação pelo mundo, além de promover encontros internacionais com artistas de diferentes áreas. Esta será a primeira edição do Encounter que tem sua próxima edição confirmada para 2023 na Lituânia.
